An appropriate start for this new, more specific phase is our own Mensa presence in cyberspace. Long-time visitors to the Mensa Web sites probably know quite a bit more about what is out there than I do. So, consider this a starting point for those new to the Internet or not familiar with our many Web sites.
Through Mensa International's and American Mensa's Web sites, you will come across other addresses for specific other countries' Mensa such as http://www.it.mensa.org/ for Italy, http://www.mensa.org.uk/ for England, as well as links for individual U.S. States and numerous individual pages.
Both Mensa International and American Mensa sites provide general information and more links than you care to follow. American Mensa allows you to sort the Mensa Group Links by State or by Group Name, a useful feature. The 1998 Award winner, Mensa Alaska, impressed me most with their huge list of links, divided in categories and featuring both Mensan items and links of interest to Mensans.
Our very own Region 1's Web site maintained by Gerry Riley has countless valuable links, including a list of the Northeast Region's Groups. The Mid-Hudson Mensa's site has the back issues of their newsletter online. The Western Pennsylvania Mensa's site has fun tests, brain teasers, puzzles and games.
For members who reverently store past Mensa Bulletins, some issues are worth going back to. The July / August 1996 issue features Mensa on the Internet with three articles: "InterLogan - Conversations with the Webmaster," "Linking to Local Mensa Groups," and "Linking to Personal Mensan Pages." The March 1997 issue features SIGs on the Internet. And, in the June 1998 issue, the 1998 Publication Recognition Program Nominees has a section with the eight nominees for a Web Page Award. You can find pertinent e-mail addresses on the back cover of the Mensa Bulletins and on the Web sites.
After getting familiar with our main Internet Web sites, regularly check out new links as time allows and discover some gems.
